The conductor is the unifying figure of the orchestra and the most important information they communicate is tempo and giving cues to start playing.

Currently, click tracks (pre-recorded audio) are heavily relied on to keep tempo but are sometimes distracting and feel detached from the conductor / too mechanical.

In a remote setting, there are multiple forms of visual and auditory signals. Adding light as another variable might be too much of a cognitive load for musicians.
